Microfactory

The deployable manufacturing system at the centre of PTDrone.

System introduction

The Microfactory is the core infrastructure behind PTDrone: a compact, increasingly automated manufacturing environment for local UAV production. It is not a container with 3D printers in it, but a deployable aerospace manufacturing system, built to turn digital aircraft designs and mission requirements into real aircraft capability.

Its workflow is planned to include additive manufacturing, component production, material handling, cleaning and post-processing, automated assembly, inspection, aircraft configuration, repair and replacement, and production management.
